"My Darling Papillions"

    The Papillion is a small, friendly, elegant, toy breed first bred back in the 14th century from a cross between a "Bichion" and smaller spaniels known then as the "Continental Toy Spaniel", later in the 15th century became known as the Papillion. This toy breed with the height of 8-11 inches, weight 3-9 lb., fine-bond structure, light, dainty,lively, friendly personality, and excellent companion dog, made it famous among the noblewomen of Western Europe in the 15th century. It was often seen painted alongside their mistresses in portraits. The Papillion made its first apperance to the United States close to the 19th century and was officially reconized and registered with AKC in 1935.

     What makes this beautiful, happy dog stand out from other breeds? Their beautiful butterfly ears. Papillions' ears can be either errect like butterfly wings (hence the french name "Papillion" for butterfly) or dropped ears ("Phalene", french for moth).Their body is slightly longer than their tail and their heads are small with a thick tapered muzzel. They come in a  large range in color from lemon and white, white to rich shades of red, chestnut, and deep mahogany over a white background. Most commonly seen are the black and white or tricolors. Their coat being long, abundant, soft and silky texture with no undercoat which requires some weekly grooming. Their health with minuim problems seen. Their litters from 2-4 puppies.

    This breed makes an excellent companion family dog as it is good with children and other pets. They are hardy and adapt to any climate, they are comfortable in apartments, as well as the country. The Papillion ranks number one among the toy breeds in obedience which is desirable for show or companionship, they are excited, enthusiastic, eager to make new friends, playful, and fun -loving. They become your best friend!

Dizzee's Pixie Chase "Chase" AKC reg. beautifully marked black and white male. Chase at 12 inches in height was our first owned papillion and reminds us daily that he is number one papillion. He is sweet, very friendly, outgoing, lively, and loves his people. He has been shown in open 4H agility and has recieved blue ribbions. Chase's favorite playmates are "Tosha" family dog, cat, Mica (our other papillion), and his puppies. He is the most personal dog who loves to be your shadow, curl up in your lap, and is most happy when he can be near you at all times.

Damica LaDonna "Mica" AKC reg. red and white with black markings female came to live with us from Texas. She is a wonderful sweetly-tempered little gal with beautiful conformation at 11 inches and plenty of go in her. She has the drooped ear "Phalene" look. She has been shown in open 4H and recieved blue ribbions. Her favorite past time is being outside snooping around in the garden and playing with the cat and and family dog "Tosha".
